61-Year-Old Farmer in Denizli Kale Ends His Life in the Pond

In a tragic incident that occurred in Kayabaşı Neighborhood of Kale district in Denizli, 61-year-old farmer Durmuş Nazalı lost his life. Allegedly, Nazalı went to Sazak Göleti and his lifeless body was found there. It was learned that shortly before the incident, he called the neighborhood mukhtar, who is also his relative, implying that he had made a tragic decision. This phone call played a key role in clarifying the incident and determining its location. The fact that the deceased made this call a few minutes before the incident was of great importance in demonstrating the urgency of the situation.

According to the details of the incident, Durmuş Nazalı spoke with Kayabaşı Neighborhood Mukhtar Hasan Sarıkavak on the phone for approximately four minutes and ten seconds. It was reported that during the conversation, Nazalı said, "My time has come," and described his location. Meanwhile, Mukhtar Sarıkavak tried to calm his relative down, warning him not to do anything wrong. Additionally, it was stated that Nazalı asked for the gendarmerie and 112 Emergency Health teams to be notified immediately to help him. After the phone hung up, the mukhtar, realizing the gravity of the situation, took action quickly.

Immediately after the phone call, Muhtar Hasan Sarıkavak contacted a friend who knew how to swim to act together. The duo took a rope found in their vehicle for a possible rescue operation and headed towards Sazak Göleti. When they reached the shore of the pond, the duo, realizing how serious the situation was, found the shoes and mobile phone belonging to Durmuş Nazalı all alone. The presence of these items on the shore became the first clues that clarified the point where the teams would start their search efforts. Upon this, official teams were dispatched to the region as quickly as possible.

The gendarmerie and health teams, arriving at the scene, launched a comprehensive search operation around the pond. As a result of the intensive and meticulous search efforts that lasted approximately two hours, the lifeless body of the farmer could be pulled out of the water about 50 meters away from the point where his belongings were found. Following the examinations and security measures taken in the area, Nazalı's body was removed from the scene. In order to determine the exact cause of death and to clarify all aspects of the incident, the lifeless body was sent to the forensic medicine institution. During this process, gendarmerie teams launched a large-scale investigation at the scene.
