Armed Clash in Sakarya: Home Raid Attempt Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured

The bloody incident that occurred at around 04.00 in the morning in Tepekum Mahallesi, affiliated with the Adapazarı district of Sakarya, terrified the neighborhood residents. A mutual armed clash broke out when a group with prior hostility raided the residence of an individual named E.D. The homeowner E.D. returned fire from inside the house against the attackers who opened fire towards the house. These intense gunshots caused many citizens in the area to wake up from their sleep. Upon notification, a large number of police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

In the ensuing clash, 33-year-old Muammer Güney lost his life at the scene. 25-year-old T.C., who was also severely injured, was urgently transported to Sakarya Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi after the initial intervention by medical teams. It was learned that the injured individual taken to the hospital remains in life-threatening condition. It was reported that other suspects present at the scene during the incident were taken into custody by police to have their statements taken. It was stated that prolonged panic and fear were experienced in the area, and citizens waited in anxiety.

Following the incident, a notable development occurred as the homeowner, E.D., surrendered to the police voluntarily. E.D., who was taken into custody along with the handgun believed to have been used in the crime, was put into a vehicle under extensive security measures while being transported to the police station. The detention process was also captured on the cell phone cameras of surrounding citizens who were at the scene recording the situation. In the recorded footage, E.D. is seen calling out to medical teams for help for an injured person. In the same footage, it was also determined that the suspect uttered certain words directed at the individuals with whom he had hostility.

Law enforcement and Crime Scene Investigation teams took extensive security measures in and around the street where the incident occurred. A highly detailed examination was conducted in and around the area where the clash took place. Expert teams collected numerous shell casings from the ground, recording them as evidence. The weapons used in the incident and other seized materials were sent to the relevant laboratories for examination. Forensic medicine and ballistic examinations are expected to clarify how the incident unfolded.

Under the coordination of the Sakarya Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, a large-scale investigation was launched regarding the armed attack and the resulting death. It was stated that all detained suspects will be referred to the courthouse after their statements are taken.
