27 People Dead in Fire at Entertainment Venue in Bangkok

In a massive fire at the pub called Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao located in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, at least 27 people lost their lives and 63 people were injured. Firefighters, accompanied by footage of them struggling to breathe from the smoke, continued to search for survivors and victims inside the collapsed building. Officials stated that obstacles in front of the two emergency exits during the fire made evacuation difficult and trapped customers inside.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt announced that crates of beer were placed in front of one of the emergency exits in the venue, and a table was placed in front of the other. It was reported that most people took shelter in the toilets at the back of the venue when the main entrance was engulfed in flames, and they died there from smoke inhalation. According to initial findings, a short circuit in an air conditioner on the roof may have caused the fire to break out.

Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene and announced that the exact cause of the fire is being investigated. Forensic experts are trying to identify the victims through mobile phones and personal belongings found among the remains. It was reported that 22 of the injured taken to the hospital are in critical condition.
