Great joy in Darende! Trade center completed

The devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, affected many provinces including Malatya, causing widespread destruction. In the aftermath, a reconstruction process was launched, with housing and workplace construction continuing rapidly in heavily damaged areas. In Balaban neighborhood of Darende district in Malatya, a trade center consisting of 142 residences and 2 shops has been completed. This project was implemented to provide safe and modern living spaces for earthquake victims. Governor Seddar Yavuz announced on his social media account that key handovers will begin on Monday, June 29, 2026.

The trade center in Balaban neighborhood is considered an important step contributing to the economic revival of the region after the earthquake. In addition to 142 residences, this center with 2 shops provides the necessary infrastructure for local people to continue their commercial activities. Landscaping and infrastructure works were also completed within the scope of the project. Thus, residents have gained a more planned and durable settlement area compared to the pre-earthquake period.

Reconstruction efforts ongoing throughout Malatya are not limited to housing and workplace construction. Basic infrastructure elements such as roads, water and sewage networks, and power lines are also being renewed. Many projects are being carried out in cooperation with the public and private sectors to alleviate the suffering of earthquake victims and rebuild the city stronger than before. The governor's office and relevant institutions state that the work is progressing according to the planned schedule.

Although Darende district suffered less damage compared to other affected areas, reconstruction efforts here are also of great importance. With the delivery of the residences in Balaban neighborhood, some earthquake victims will have permanent homes. This situation has created great joy and hope among the local population. Authorities state that construction in other neighborhoods will be completed quickly and handed over to beneficiaries.

The post-earthquake reconstruction process is being carried out meticulously in Malatya, as in the rest of Turkey. The state has activated various support mechanisms to meet the housing needs of earthquake victims and revitalize economic life.
