Major transportation move for 55 neighborhoods in Malatya!

The Rural Services Department of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality continues its road construction and asphalt paving efforts across the city and rural areas without interruption. In this context, a comprehensive project has been initiated on the Balaban-Esenbey group road in the Darende district, which has long suffered from serious transportation safety and comfort issues. The project, which will significantly strengthen the region's transportation network, has brought the 8-meter-wide road connecting three districts to the asphalt laying stage. Infrastructure and widening works have been largely completed, and asphalt paving is expected to begin shortly. This development has been met with satisfaction by the local population.

Village headmen expressed their satisfaction with the work and thanked Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami Er. Gökçeören Village Headman Mehmet Özdemir stated that approximately 42 villages in Darende, and a total of 55 villages, use the group road. He noted that the road connects three districts and that there were major problems before, emphasizing the desire for the work to be fully completed. Şendere Village Headman Enver Aydeniz highlighted that the road is a heavily used route and that the widening has eased the region. The headmen stressed the vital importance of such investments for rural development.

Esenbey Village Headman Mehmet Sarpkaya said the route is a very old main road and that no work had been done on the Balaban, Esenbey, Ağılbaşı, and Levent line before. He noted that Mayor Sami Er's familiarity with the issue from his previous tenure as General Secretary of the Special Provincial Administration is a great advantage. This experience is believed to have contributed to the project's rapid and effective progress. The headmen stated that Mayor Er's close knowledge of the region has accelerated the work.

It was reported that the road's previous condition caused serious disruptions and safety risks. Mullauşağı Village Headman Hamit Uzunay said that before the work began, the road was so narrow that two cars could not pass side by side, but now it has been considerably widened. Hisarkale Village Headman Mustafa Şahin also drew attention to the same issue and thanked everyone involved on behalf of all villages. The narrow road was said to have hindered transportation and caused accidents.

Balaban Village Headman Hüseyin Gülseren, a retired emergency service worker, stated that he personally witnessed fatal and injury accidents on this road. He emphasized that the current work is very valuable. Ağılbaşı Village Headman Muharrem Gültekin noted that the road is a strategic route starting from Balaban and leading to Hekimhan and Yazıhan districts. The project is expected to increase transportation safety and stimulate economic activity in the region.
