Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she will hold an important meeting to address security issues in the state of Michoacán, one of the regions with high violence rates in the country, particularly the area inhabited by the Purépecha people. Sheinbaum will receive a delegation coming from the Purépecha Council in the capital, Mexico City, and will address in detail the security tsunami affecting the fifteen municipalities in this region. It was decided that addressing sensitive security matters in a public town hall meeting rather than a private meeting would be more appropriate.

Sheinbaum announced the establishment of a Command and Control (C2) Center in the city of Cherán to strengthen security mechanisms, which will increase video surveillance capacity. Additionally, she emphasized that a hemodialysis unit will be added to Cherán Hospital to improve health infrastructure, and local community companies will be supported for the region's economic development. Strengthening medical infrastructure was described as a critical step taken to increase the population's access to health services and enhance social welfare in the region.

The Federal government reported that it recently allocated a resource worth 4 billion pesos within the scope of the 'Justice Plan for the Purépecha People' prepared for the Purépecha people. It was announced that these funds will be allocated to projects such as health, education, infrastructure, road construction, and security, priorities will be determined by community councils, and resources will be directed directly to these needs. Reflecting the government's local governance approach, this plan aims for resources to pass through the decision-making mechanisms of communities rather than central offices.

Emphasizing local sovereignty, Sheinbaum argued that justice plans are built not in government chambers but directly with communities, and that communities' authority to set priorities is fundamental in the allocation of resources. Speaking at the program accompanied by Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Sheinbaum stated that Mexico is in a phase of defending national sovereignty and called for relations with other countries based on equality.

Another topic on the agenda during the meeting was the situation of Mexicans living in the United States; Sheinbaum described this group as 'heroes of the homeland' due to their contributions to the economic development of both countries and gave a message of support. She concluded her speech by stating that the government will continue to defend the rights of Mexicans living in the US and stand by them against the difficulties they may face.
