In the commune of Les Ageux, located in the Oise department of France, the construction of a settlement consisting of sixteen new rental homes has officially begun. This small settlement, located in the vicinity of Pont-Sainte-Maxence, has come to the agenda with a new project aimed at meeting the increasing housing demand in the region. The first groundbreaking ceremony was held on 1 July at the address Impasse Terre de l'Eglise, starting with a ceremony attended by official authorities. The completion and delivery of these residences are planned for the end of November 2027. The project aims to both meet the housing needs of the local population and bring new families to the commune.

The development and contracting of the project were undertaken by the company B&G on behalf of OPAC de l'Oise, a regional social housing provider. The design of the settlement, which will consist of sixteen dwellings in total, aims to appeal to different income groups. In this context, it is envisioned to build eight four-room (type 4) and eight five-room (type 5) independent houses. Five of the residences are financed through PLAI and PLUS, state-supported social loan programs, so that low-income families can benefit. In this way, it is aimed to keep the rent amounts at a level suitable for the purchasing power of households in need.

The remaining eleven residences will be classified as intermediate rental homes (LLI) and will offer a solution to the housing needs of middle-income households. This system targets families who have too high an income to apply for traditional social housing but struggle to stay permanently in the private sector rental market. Therefore, the project stands out as a successful example of a layered housing policy addressing different socioeconomic levels. Arnaud Dumontier, the president of OPAC de l'Oise and also the mayor of Pont-Sainte-Maxence, stated that this initiative demonstrates the institution's capacity to offer diverse housing. Dumontier also emphasized that the project is shaped according to the real needs of the municipalities and the region's residents.

Sylvie Sagon, the Mayor of Les Ageux, stated that this project is a major step for the commune during her tenure, which she has been carrying out since 2026. Sagon particularly emphasized that the construction was designed with an understanding that invites new families to the commune without harming the human scale and resident structure of the settlement. These new residences stand out as one of the latest investments by OPAC de l'Oise, which manages a massive housing portfolio in the region. The social housing provider manages approximately 32,000 residences in 241 different communes, making it one of the largest actors in the region. The administrative and operational processes of these sixteen new homes in Les Ageux will also be directly managed by the OPAC agency in Pont-Sainte-Maxence.

Such local housing projects are of great importance in terms of retaining the population and reducing interregional inequality in the suburban and rural areas of France. In a period when rental costs are constantly increasing, such integrated projects, covering both social and middle-income levels, directly improve the living standards in the region. With the start of the construction process, the local economy is also expected to experience a small-scale vitality in terms of employment and trade. Residents of Les Ageux and Pont-Sainte-Maxence are following this project, which is planned to be completed in the autumn of 2027, with curiosity. Ultimately, these sixteen homes will come to life as a concrete reflection of a sustainable growth vision compatible with the demographic and economic fabric of the region.
