Governor of Russia's Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, announced that the fires which broke out following the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks that occurred in the cities of Taganrog and Azov the day before, have been completely extinguished. In a statement made via a messaging app, Slyusar noted that the fires in Taganrog, Azov, and the Azov region were brought under control and completely extinguished. Following the incidents, authorities declared a local state of emergency in the region and evacuated residents under threat to safe areas. The governor stated that the evacuated residents can return to their homes and that those staying in temporary shelters have also returned to their settlements. Additionally, it was emphasized that local governments provide one-on-one support to citizens in need.

The incidents began on the morning of 10 Temmuz, when the Rostov region was targeted by a massive Ukraine UAV attack. As a result of the attacks, large-scale fires broke out, particularly at two separate petroleum product storage facilities in the city of Azov. At the same time, a severe fire also occurred in the Taganrog seaport area, and emergency response efforts were initiated in the region. Meanwhile, a fire broke out in an administrative building in the village of Kagalnik in the Azov district, but the flames in this area were quickly brought under control and localized. Slyusar stated that during the process of repelling the air attack, a total of approximately 30 UAVs were neutralized in Taganrog, Azov, and surrounding regions.

Taking into account the magnitude of the fires and the risk of spreading, a local state of emergency regime was implemented in Taganrog. Residents living in residential areas affected by the UAV attacks were immediately evacuated for security reasons. Temporary shelter centers were set up in the city for citizens who had to leave their homes, and their basic needs were met. Authorities reported that risks have gradually decreased as response teams continue their intensive work in the region. Some residents in the area were placed in their relatives' homes as part of security measures, thereby alleviating the density in temporary shelter centers.

Following the initial interventions, authorities confirmed that the fires at the two petroleum product storage facilities in Azov were brought under control as of the afternoon on 10 Temmuz. However, it was noted that firefighting efforts for a fire that broke out at one of the industrial facilities in the city continued for a while longer. Governor Slyusar expressed that all evacuation procedures in the region were carried out in an orderly manner and the safety of the residents was ensured. It was stated that the intervention processes were challenging due to adverse weather conditions and the location of the fire, but the teams worked around the clock. Despite all these events, the absence of any casualties or injuries in the region was considered a positive development by the authorities.

These events have once again demonstrated how fragile civilian life in the region can be and the importance of emergency response systems. Due to its geographical location, the Rostov region continues to be a frequent target of the increasing UAV attacks in recent times. Authorities have accelerated their work on early warning systems and evacuation procedures in order to prevent civilian casualties. As a result of the changing dimensions of the conflict between the two countries, it is observed that such attacks against infrastructure facilities in Russia's inland regions have increasingly become a common tactic. Meanwhile, the local population and authorities continue their efforts to be prepared for such emergencies and to recover quickly.
