Major Smuggling Operation Worth 4.5 Million Liras in Aksaray: 3 Detained

A comprehensive operation was conducted by gendarmerie teams in Aksaray as part of the fight against smuggling. Approximately 4 million 500 thousand TL worth of smuggled goods were seized during simultaneous raids. Judicial proceedings were initiated against 3 suspects, while detailed searches were carried out in their vehicles, residences, and workplaces. Authorities announced that the fight against smuggling activities threatening public peace and security will continue with determination. The high market value of the seized products further increases the importance of the operation.

The operation was meticulously planned under the coordination of the Aksaray and Ortaköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices. Teams from the Aksaray Provincial Gendarmerie Command KOM Department and the Ortaköy District Gendarmerie Command decided to conduct simultaneous operations against the targets following weeks of intelligence work. As a result of intense monitoring by intelligence units, it was definitively determined that the suspects were trading smuggled goods. Based on the evidence obtained, the addresses where M.M.A. (55), R.İ. (46), and S.Ö. (29) operated were identified. The teams carried out a surprise raid, giving the suspects no opportunity to flee or destroy evidence.

A wide variety of smuggled goods were uncovered during searches of the suspects' vehicles, residences, and workplaces. Among the seized items, personal care products such as 930 perfumes, 490 sunglasses, and 80 cosmetic products stood out. Additionally, electronic items such as 45 flashlights, 66 solar lamps, and 50 speakers were confiscated as a result of the operation. During the searches, 15 saws, 23 cameras, 24 massagers, and 5 mobile phones were also among the items identified as smuggled goods. It was reported that the total market value of these products is approximately 4 million 500 thousand TL.

Judicial proceedings were initiated against the three suspects detained within the scope of the operation under the Anti-Smuggling Law No. 5607. After taking their statements, the suspects are planned to be referred to the courthouse. The investigation, conducted under the coordination of the prosecutor's office, is ongoing to uncover all dimensions of the smuggling network. Authorities stated that such operations are regularly carried out to prevent damage to the country's economy and to tradesmen engaged in legal sales. How long the detained individuals have been operating in illegal trade is also among the topics being investigated within the scope of the inquiry.

Gendarmerie authorities emphasized that the fight against all types of crimes and criminals, especially smuggling, will continue with determination to ensure public peace and security. It was noted that introducing smuggled goods into the market both reduces the state's tax revenues and endangers consumer health. Authorities warned the public that the production and distribution of such products in uncontrolled environments may contain counterfeit and dangerous substances. Citizens reporting suspicious situations to authorities is of great importance for the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling. Gendarmerie teams will remain vigilant to prevent illegal activities in the region by conducting similar operations in the future.
