61-Year-Old Semih Özer, Struck by a Vehicle During a Bicycle Tour in Amasya, Loses His Life

In the Gümüşhacıköy district of Amasya, 61-year-old Semih Özer lost his life as a result of being struck by a vehicle while on a bicycle tour. Özer's funeral was buried in the district cemetery following the funeral prayer held at the Merzifon Kara Mustafa Paşa Mosque.

The Ecological Life Bicycle Association (EKOBİD), of which the deceased cyclist was a member, issued a written press statement following the incident. The association, based in Samsun, drew attention to the fact that cyclists in Turkey are at great risk in traffic.

In the statement, emphasis was placed on the environment where cyclists pay with their lives due to drivers' inattention, excessive speed, and failure to obey the rules. Describing the situation with the words "This is not an accident, it is a preventable loss of life," the association warned officials and drivers.
