Teacher in Nepal Saves 900 Students from Flood Disaster

A teacher in Nepal saved the lives of 900 students by ordering an emergency evacuation just before a flood disaster struck their school. Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School Principal Rajendra Dawadi acted decisively, saying "we lose lessons but we lose lives" upon learning the flood would hit in 15 minutes. Students reached the safe area by running in panic.

The flood originated in the Trishuli River due to a glacier collapse in Tibet and completely destroyed the school building. The disaster claimed more than 800 lives in Nepal and China, with more than 3,000 people still missing. Sixteen-year-old survivor Yunisha escaped by climbing a hill seconds before the flood wiped out the village.

Dawadi stated that if he had delayed his decision by 10 minutes, no one would have survived. At least one staff member lost their life at the school. Authorities continue search and rescue operations.
