34 People Arrested in Drug Operations in Muğla

Teams from the Narcotic Crimes Branch of the Muğla Provincial Police Department carried out extensive anti-drug efforts throughout the province during June. Based on concrete evidence, numerous steps were taken against criminal networks and individuals involved in the drug trade that threatened public health. These comprehensive operations delivered a serious message aimed at preventing drug use and sales in the region, and legal proceedings were initiated against hundreds of suspects identified as being involved. The operations aimed not only at street dealers but also at the supply chain to strengthen the sense of security in the region.

In the operations, police teams seized large quantities and various types of drugs, along with equipment facilitating this trade, thereby decoding the elements of crime. In raids conducted at different points in Muğla, security forces found 6,744 grams of skunk-type drugs, 4,642 grams of marijuana, 570 grams of cocaine, and 175 grams of methamphetamine, along with other synthetic stimulants. Additionally, 71 grams of bonzai, 3 grams of heroin, a large number of synthetic pills, and 2 captagon pills were among the seized items. Furthermore, 18 precision scales used to turn drug trade into cash and obstruct justice, as well as 40 cannabis roots used as a source for drug production, were seized by the teams.

As a result of physical surveillance and intelligence work, a total of 324 suspects were detained and legal proceedings were initiated against them in operations targeting drug dealers and users. Following the completion of interrogations at police units, the suspects were referred to judicial authorities depending on the sufficiency of evidence and the nature of the crime. While a large majority of the suspects were released pending processing, those facing charges of drug trafficking and use—catalog crimes—were brought to duty courts in courthouses in the provincial capital Muğla.

Following the trials by judicial authorities, it was decided that 34 of the suspects be arrested and sent to prison, considering the severity of the crime and the status of the evidence. The arrest warrants were issued on the suspicion that these individuals detained by the courts were organizers of the drug trade or dealers engaged in large-scale sales. In contrast, a ruling was made to release 10 suspects under judicial control conditions, as it was determined that they were offending for the first time or that the quantity was low. For the remaining suspects, administrative or legal proceedings continue based on their statements and the status of the investigation files.

These operations once again demonstrated the Muğla Provincial Police Department's determination to dry up the drug swamp within the provincial borders and catch the criminals. The quantity and variety of the seized drugs show that police teams operate an effective supervision mechanism not just in a certain region, but across all districts and neighborhoods in the province. Thanks to the successful work of the narcotics teams working day and night for the tranquility and safety of the citizens, serious blows were dealt to the drug sales network in the region. Authorities emphasize that the fight against drugs is an ongoing process and that such operations will continue uninterrupted in the coming period, calling on citizens to be vigilant.
