74-Year-Old Elderly Man Hit by a Truck in Ordu Lost His Life

In a tragic traffic accident that occurred in the Altınordu district of Ordu, 74-year-old Ahmet Karabulut, who was hit by a truck, could not be saved at the hospital where he was taken despite all medical interventions. The incident, which occurred in the morning hours, took place on Zübeyde Hanım Caddesi in Şahincili Mahallesi. Following the accident, health, police, and fire teams were dispatched to the scene immediately. It was learned that the elderly man was trapped under the vehicle as a result of the truck hitting him while he was heading from the sidewalk towards the street. While an investigation has been launched into the incident, the truck driver was taken into custody and referred to judicial authorities for processing.

According to the information obtained, 74-year-old Ahmet Karabulut became the victim of the accident in the morning hours when he wanted to step down from the pedestrian sidewalk onto the street. The truck with the license plate 52 AFA 006, driven by an individual named İ.A., hit the elderly man and caused the tragic accident. Karabulut, who got trapped under the truck due to the impact of the collision, was rescued after citizens who became aware of the situation quickly called for help, initiating the rescue operation. Fire crews arriving at the scene made a intense effort to extricate him from where he was trapped. Meanwhile, medical teams at the scene provided first aid and tried to stabilize the patient's condition.

Severely injured Ahmet Karabulut, who was extricated from under the truck after the lengthy and meticulous efforts of the fire crews, was placed in an ambulance due to the severity of his condition. The elderly man was urgently referred to Ordu Devlet Hastanesi as his life-threatening condition continued. The driver is expected to be referred to judicial authorities after his procedures are completed.

Traffic police are analyzing the speed and dynamics at the time of the accident based on the vehicle's tire marks, braking distance, and the impact of the collision. This tragic incident has once again brought to mind the dangers of large vehicles sharing common spaces with pedestrians, especially in urban traffic, and the traffic safety measures that need to be taken. Authorities warned both drivers and pedestrians to pay maximum attention to traffic rules.
