One suspect arrested in drug operation in Şanlıurfa's Suruç district

A suspect was detained in a successful drug operation conducted by security forces in the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa. The operation was carried out by Suruç District Gendarmerie Command teams targeting an individual identified as being involved in drug trafficking. Following the suspect's capture, a comprehensive search was conducted at their address and on their person. During the search, a significant amount of drugs and an illegal weapon were seized. It was reported that the procedures for the detained individual are ongoing.

It was announced that among the drugs seized as part of the operation were 210 grams of marijuana and 15 grams of heroin. Additionally, 550 grams of cannabis seeds were confiscated at the suspect's residence. The seizure of this quantity of drugs before they could be sold on the streets demonstrates the success of the security forces' intelligence efforts. Based on the evidence obtained, authorities are exploring the possibility that the suspect had previously been involved in similar crimes. It was emphasized that operations aimed at preventing drug trafficking continue with determination in the region.

Illegal weapons and ammunition also constituted a significant part of the operation. During the searches, 1 pistol and 40 rounds of ammunition belonging to the firearm were seized. In addition, 1 shotgun was found in the suspect's house. Authorities state that individuals involved in drug trafficking usually possess weapons, and this situation increases the security risk in the region. It was noted that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the weapons are licensed. The seized weapons and ammunition have been registered and preserved as evidence.

Along with drugs and weapons, other materials proving commercial activity were also seized during the operation. 1 precision scale and 30 zip-lock bags were found on the suspect and at their address. The precision scale is used for the packaging and weighing of drugs to prepare them for sale. The zip-lock bags are preferred for selling drugs in small quantities. The seizure of these materials suggests that the suspect was operating within an organized drug trafficking network. It was learned that all confiscated evidence has been handed over to the police under the prosecutor's orders.

It was stated that the identity and age of the detained suspect were not disclosed due to the confidentiality of the operation. The suspect was reportedly taken to the gendarmerie station after undergoing a medical check at a fully equipped hospital. It was learned that gendarmerie teams are deepening the investigation regarding the operation and looking into whether the suspect has any connections. It was emphasized that operations targeting drug dealers will continue uninterruptedly in the Suruç district. Security sources stated that the determined fight to completely end drug trafficking in the region will persist.
