17 suspects arrested in weekly peace operation by police in Çanakkale

Çanakkale Provincial Police Department conducted a large-scale peace operation to ensure public order and prevent crimes across the city. Within the scope of the operations carried out between 6-13 July 2026, critical points and public areas of the city were inspected. While 34 suspects wanted for various crimes were caught and detained during the operations, 17 of them were arrested and sent to prison.

During the weekly inspections, GBT queries were conducted on 11 thousand 805 individuals by security forces, and 3 thousand 183 vehicles were thoroughly checked. Administrative fines were imposed on 406 drivers for traffic violations, while actions were taken against 105 individuals disrupting public order under the Misdemeanors Law. Police teams blockaded many points, especially the entrance and exit points of the city.

The fight against drug dealers also yielded results within the scope of the operation. During the searches, 142.33 grams of narcotics and 10 drug pills were seized, while judicial proceedings were initiated against 61 suspects connected to the issue. Security authorities emphasized that they are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the safety of citizens and that the fight against illegal formations will continue to increase.
