Iran's Revolutionary Guards Target 6 Ships in Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it targeted six ships in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf. According to Iranian forces, the targets consisted of three oil tankers alleged to have passed through the Strait of Hormuz without permission and three US-linked vessels located in different regions.

This development has escalated military tensions to a peak in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil supply passes. Any disruption in the region could seriously affect global energy markets and international trade routes.

While Iranian officials characterized the action as a legitimate response to US attacks on Iranian ships, no official statement has yet come from the US regarding the targeting allegations. The situation increases the risk of a further confrontation in the Gulf region.
