Strong Response to Call to 'Ignore' Petro, Who Does Not Recognize the Election in Colombia

In Colombia, former President Gustavo Petro faced an intense campaign of criticism after refusing to recognize the victory of Abelardo de la Espriella, who claimed to have won the presidential election. Social media platforms and various political sectors protested Petro's stance, calling for his social ostracization and to ignore him. Referring to his own political past, Petro reminded the public that he had previously exposed corruption files such as Banpacífico and Guaymaral, and clarified the suspicious property valuations in Chía and northern Bogota to the public. According to him, these censorship attempts were not new; because he had always gone after corruption, drug-cartel connections, and deep structures within the state.
