Lavrov: US-Iran Tension Cannot Be Resolved with an Agreement That Does Not Protect the Interests of All Parties

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, as part of his Africa tour, and met with the country's senior officials. Received by Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, Lavrov held a joint press conference following his meeting with his counterpart Manuela dos Santos Lucas. During the discussions, the issue of how to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries was addressed. Lavrov explicitly stated that they support Mozambique's efforts to eliminate the terrorist threat it faces in its northern regions. In this context, he emphasized that Mozambique has been assisted in various areas, including personnel training, arms, and military equipment supply.

Making significant assessments regarding the international agenda at the press conference, Lavrov particularly touched upon the Ukraine crisis and harshly criticized the West's stance. Lavrov stated that due to these negative experiences, they no longer believe in the West's sincerity in resolving the crisis through negotiations and that their hopes in this regard have been completely exhausted.

The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that a single condition must be met for this crisis to be permanently resolved.
