Car crashes into barrier in Afyonkarahisar: Young couple killed, their 8-month-old baby severely injured

In a tragic traffic accident that occurred in the Sinanpaşa district of Afyonkarahisar, a young couple inside a car that overturned after crashing into barriers lost their lives. The 27-year-old driver Hasan Samur and his 26-year-old wife Zehra Özkan Samur lost their lives after being trapped inside the vehicle due to the impact of the crash. The couple's 8-month-old baby Aybars Kaan Samur survived the accident with severe injuries. Following the accident, health, police, gendarmerie, fire department, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. After the teams' lengthy efforts, the trapped bodies could be removed from the vehicle.

The accident occurred near the village of Balmahmut on the Afyonkarahisar-Uşak highway. It was reported that the car, driven by Hasan Samur, went out of control for an unknown reason and crashed into the roadside barriers. The vehicle overturned from the force of the collision, and it was determined that the driver and passengers were trapped inside. After nearby citizens immediately reported the situation to the authorities, numerous emergency rescue teams were directed to the scene. The bodies of the deceased couple were taken to the Sinanpaşa Devlet Hastanesi morgue after the on-site work was completed. The severely injured 8-month-old baby Aybars Kaan Samur was transferred to Afyonkarahisar Devlet Hastanesi by ambulance after initial medical intervention. It was learned that the baby is in critical condition and has been placed in the intensive care unit. This tragic event has caused profound devastation for their relatives and loved ones. It was stated that medical teams continue to perform all necessary medical interventions to stabilize the baby's condition.

Meanwhile, according to the information obtained, it emerged that Hasan Samur, who lost his life in the accident, was serving as a specialist sergeant at the Afyonkarahisar İl Jandarma Komutanlığı. It was learned that his wife, Zehra Özkan Samur, was working as a civil servant at Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi. The bodies of the young couple will be handed over to their relatives after the autopsy procedures are completed. This painful event has deeply saddened both the gendarmerie community and university employees. Officials and colleagues issued condolences for the deceased couple.

The investigation into the incident is being conducted comprehensively by the teams of the Sinanpaşa İlçe Jandarma Komutanlığı. It was stated that the impact of the vehicle's speed, adverse weather or road conditions, and other factors on the incident are being investigated.
