Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs: We cannot fulfill our commitments while the US fails to comply with the agreement

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ismail Beka'i argued that his country's recent military actions are a legitimate "right of self-defense" within the scope of international law. Stating that Iran has not engaged in any attacks and that all its steps were taken for the purpose of self-defense, Beka'i emphasized that holding Iran responsible would be an irresponsible approach.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing in Tehran, the spokesperson stated that the operations conducted against US bases were carried out within the limits of self-defense in response to the aggressive actions initiated by the US and Israel. Furthermore, he claimed that in the negotiations conducted with Washington, the US clearly violated the agreement and entered a process of sabotage before completing the first month of the agreement.

Regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, it was announced that Iran is trying to develop a joint mechanism with Oman, but the process was negatively affected due to US pressure on Oman. Adding that Foreign Minister Abbas Erakçi's recent Oman visit was successful, the spokesperson stated that Iran always prioritizes national interests at the negotiating table.
