Drug operation in Konya's Karapınar district: 25 detention decisions

A comprehensive security operation has been conducted in Karapınar district of Konya province aimed at preventing drug trafficking and usage. The joint efforts of the Narcotic Crimes Branch of the Konya Provincial Police Department and the Karapınar District Police Department teams targeted drug dealers in the region. Within the scope of the operation, long-term technical and physical surveillance methods were used to determine the movements and activities of the suspects. Based on the intelligence obtained, simultaneous raids were carried out against individuals against whom sufficient suspicion was formed, and the operation was successfully concluded.

When the details of the operation are examined, it is seen that the security forces focused on individuals evaluated to be engaged in drug trade. In this context, a total of 5 suspects, estimated to be involved in commercial activities, were neutralized and caught by the teams. The operation was not only directed at dealers; it also aimed to identify users within the scope of combating substance addiction. In this direction, 20 different individuals, identified as drug users, were also caught and detained. Thus, as a result of the operation, a total of 25 people were taken into custody and taken to the police station.

Following the delivery of the detainees to the security units, it was learned that the questioning and processing phase began in accordance with legal procedures. The statements of these suspects are being taken at the Karapınar and Konya central police departments, and a detailed investigation regarding the operation is being carried out. Security forces are making intense efforts to decipher the networks of suspects regarding drug supply and trade. After the completion of the statement-taking process, preparations were completed to initiate the judicial process. The suspects will be referred to judicial authorities for legal proceedings.

Drug use and trade is seen as one of the most important problems threatening public health and safety, and is followed with seriousness by security units. The work of the Konya Provincial Police Department on this issue is not limited to just one district but continues as part of a general strategy. It is stated that such operations, organized to ensure peace in the regions and to save young people from the influence of poisonous dealers, will continue at periodic intervals.
