Tokayev Re-Approved Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General Berik Asylov in His Post

Kazakhstan's President Kasım-Comart Tokayev has reappointed Berik Asylov as the country's Prosecutor General. Asylov has been successfully fulfilling this critical and high-level position since Mart 2022. In an official statement from the press service of the Presidential Administration (Akorda), it was announced that with the relevant decree signed by the Head of State, it was decided that Ata Nogayulı will continue his duty as the Prosecutor General of the Republic. This appointment is seen as part of a strategy to maintain stability among the senior administrators in Kazakhstan's legal and judicial system. The retention of this figure, who heads the country's judicial and legal processes, is also a concrete indicator of political continuity in state administration.

Berik Asylov, who was re-approved in the said position, has a deeply rooted and extremely detailed career within the prosecutorial institution. Throughout his professional life, he has served in the prosecutorial organization for more than 30 years, gaining valuable experience. Asylov began his career as an intern at the prosecutor's office in the Alatau district of Almatı, where he learned the fundamental dynamics regarding the application of law and the functioning of judicial processes. In addition, he assumed major responsibilities in ensuring the supremacy of the law by serving as the Chief Prosecutor of the Batı Region Transport and the Prosecutor of the Aktöbe Region. In 2010, he rapidly climbed the career ladder to become the Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, a position in which he was closely involved in the complex legal and judicial processes taking place in the country. This rich regional and central management experience has enabled him to know the legal system flawlessly at every level.

The professional journey of the experienced prosecutor is also highlighted by his tenure as the prosecutor of Almatı, one of Kazakhstan's largest metropolises, between 2011 and 2017. Following his successful management in this densely populated and economically strategic city, he was appointed as the Prosecutor of the Kuzey Kazakistan Region, contributing to the security and legal architecture of different regions. In 2019, taking another major step, he was appointed to the position of First Deputy Prosecutor General, thus sharing direct management responsibility at the highest level of the institution. Ultimately, on 3 Mart 2022, he reached the peak of his career by being appointed as the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan by the President. With the new decree signed today, President Tokayev has officially reaffirmed Asylov's authority and strong will in this highest legal office.
