The traffic accident that occurred in the Kızılırmak district of Çankırı was among the most tragic news of the day in the region. A chain disaster occurred following a violent collision between a light commercial vehicle and a passenger car on the Çankırı-Kızılırmak highway near Bozkır village within the district limits. According to initial information and the severe damage caused by the accident, two vehicles coming from opposite directions contacted each other after long-distance braking traces and went off the road. The violence of the crash caused both vehicles to lose complete control and roll down a slope, resulting in major deformation in the cars. This situation made the survival struggle of the passengers quite difficult and required the dispatch of emergency teams to the scene.

The identities of those who lost their lives in the accident and their ties to their families revealed the extent of the tragedy. İzzet Gümüşbuğa, 43, driving the car with license plate 16 ALY 258, lost his life in the driver's seat due to the impact of the accident, while his 12-year-old son Hasan Salih Gümüşbuğa, who was beside him, shared the same fate and passed away. Remzi Akdemir, 75, the driver of the other vehicle who was taken to the hospital injured, could not be saved despite all the efforts of the doctors and lost his life. Thus, it was determined that the total loss of life rose to three people and the families were left in mourning. The health conditions of the children and other adults among the injured continue to be awaited with concern by their relatives.

The work of the fire and health teams dispatched to the scene was vital in rescuing the injured, who were said to be in critical condition. The injured, who were trapped inside the cars and difficult to extricate, could be removed from the vehicles as a result of the long and meticulous efforts of the fire crew. After the trapped citizens were handed over to the health teams, they were quickly transported to Çankırı State Hospital. It was learned that some of the injured, who were treated at the hospital, continued to be in serious condition and health workers intervened intensely. It was stated that some of the injured had no vital danger but were kept under observation.

An investigation was launched immediately after the incident, and details regarding the technical aspects of the accident began to become clear. It was determined that a Fiat-branded light commercial vehicle with license plate 06 HD 7613 driven by Remzi Akdemir, 75, coming from the opposite direction, and the car driven by İzzet Gümüşbuğa collided on the highway. The rolling of the vehicles down a slope after the collision constituted evidence of how violent the accident was. Gendarmerie and traffic teams are trying to determine the cause of the accident by examining vehicle parts and brake traces at the scene. These investigations will reveal the existence of any fault and exactly how the fatal accident occurred.

Such traffic accidents once again reminded how important safety measures and driver attention are on the country's highway network. In regions like the Çankırı-Kızılırmak highway, which are not busy but have surprise bends, compliance with speed limits and lane keeping is vital. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after autopsy procedures, while the treatment of the injured continues. Residents of the region and other drivers were warned that they need to drive more carefully and in accordance with traffic rules to prevent similar accidents. When the investigation is completed, the legal process regarding the cause of the accident and liabilities will also be clarified.
