55 suspects detained in major operation against new-generation criminal organizations in Ankara

In a comprehensive operation coordinated by the Ankara Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı against new-generation criminal organizations determined to be active in the city center and districts, simultaneous raids were carried out by Emniyet Müdürlüğü teams early in the morning. The operation aimed to strike a blow against the hierarchical structure and financial resources of the organization. Suspects were neutralized through simultaneous operations at numerous addresses. It was stated that the operations were conducted meticulously within a legal framework, based on technical and physical surveillance results following tips.

Within the scope of the investigation, a total of 117 suspects with arrest warrants were identified, and the majority were detained. Interrogations of the suspects began on allegations that they acted in accordance with acts and activities under the organized crime laws. Security forces determined that the organization had a structure focused on laundering criminal proceeds and obtaining unjust gains. There is intelligence that the suspects obtained income through fraud and coercion methods they carried out via digital platforms. It was noted that certain names, including the leadership cadre of the organization, were the main targets of the operation.

Detained suspects were referred to judicial authorities after the completion of procedures at the emniyet müdürlüğü. The suspects, who underwent health checks at Ankara Adliyesi, were brought before the on-duty magistrate to have their statements taken by the prosecutor's office. The processes of the suspects giving statements were meticulously conducted for the expansion of the prosecutor's investigation. Following the statements, 55 of the 117 suspects referred to the court were arrested and sent to prison upon judicial decisions. It was learned that a process was initiated against the arrested suspects on charges of "establishing or managing a criminal organization" and "qualified fraud" on the grounds that they were part of the organization's upper cadre and that the activities were of a continuous nature. Other suspects subject to travel bans were released under judicial control conditions. It was noted that the investigation is being deepened and examinations into the organization's other connections and financial flows continue.

Regarding the issue, officials emphasized that no opportunity will be given for the formation of criminal organizations in Ankara and that all necessary enforcement measures will continue within the framework of the rule of law. Citizens were warned to inform security units in the fight against such structures. It was stated that efforts to raise public awareness against methods developed by new-generation criminal organizations in the digital environment would be increased. Ankara Emniyeti announced that such operations would continue uninterruptedly for the peace and security of the city.
