7 People Detained in Drug Operation in Malatya, Large Quantity of Drugs Seized

A comprehensive drug operation conducted in Malatya city center and Hekimhan district has been successfully concluded thanks to the meticulous efforts of the Malatya Provincial Police Department Narcotic Crimes Branch teams. In the scope of the operation, which targeted street dealers referred to as 'Torbacı' and utilized physical surveillance, a total of 8 suspects, identified as conducting activities, were taken into custody. During detailed searches carried out by police units at the suspects' residences and on their persons, a large quantity of drugs ready for distribution was seized.

According to the operation details, the amount of drugs in the possession of the drug traffickers is quite striking. In searches conducted by the teams, it was announced that 724 synthetic drug pills, 136 grams of synthetic cannabinoid, 77 ecstasy pills, 4 grams of methamphetamine, and 3 grams of marijuana were found and seized. These quantities reveal how much material the suspects were trying to introduce into the city's drug trade and how sensitive the police are to such activities.

After the process of taking the statements of the 8 suspects, who were taken into custody, at the police units was completed, legal action was initiated and they were referred to the judicial authorities. Following the interrogations conducted by the prosecution and judiciary, the suspects were brought before the Duty Magistrate Judgeship with a request for their arrest. The Judgeship made its decision regarding the suspects based on the questioning and evidence presented.

As a result of the trial held by the court, it was decided that 7 of the 8 suspects be arrested and sent to prison for the crimes of drug trafficking and facilitating use. This decision was made considering the nature of the crime and the weight of the evidence. Another aspect of the operation concerns the suspect released under judicial control. The Judgeship ruled that one of the 8 suspects be released under the conditions of judicial control.

This recent operation in Malatya once again proved that a determined policy is being followed regarding the fight against drugs in the city. It is stated that such operations targeting drug dealers who threaten the peace and security of the public will continue uninterrupted in the future. Emphasizing the importance of tip-offs from citizens, the security forces continue their presence in the field to dry up the drug swamp in the city.
